Funded Childcare

If you live and work in England you may be entitled to 30 hours funded childcare support from the term after your child turns 9 months old, until they start school.

You can usually get funded childcare for working parents if you (and your partner, if you have one) are:

  • in work or starting a new job

  • on sick leave or annual leave

  • on shared parental, maternity, paternity or adoption leave

The amount of funded childcare you can get depends on:

  • your child’s age and circumstances

  • your income (and your partner’s income, if you have one)

  • your immigration status

If you are not eligible for the working parent offer you will still receive the 15 hour entitlement for all 3 and 4 year olds from the term after your child turns 3 until they start school, irrespective of your income level, benefit status, or family circumstances.

If you or your child receive some additional forms of support, you may be eligible for 15 hours early learning for 2 year olds under a separate scheme and you should speak to your local council and/or provider in the first instance. If you are eligible, you should still apply for the working parent entitlement, but you will receive 15 hours from each scheme (up to a maximum of 30 hours in total).

The Disability Access Fund (DAF)

Your child’s early years provider could get £910 or more per year to help with their education and support.

This will be paid direct to your early years provider.

You can apply to get disability access funding if your child receives Disability Living Allowance for children and one of the following:

You do not need to use all of your hours to be eligible for disability access funding.

The Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP)

Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) can be claimed by the early education provider if a child at their setting is accessing free early education and the child is aged 3 or 4. The EYPP is focused on the most disadvantaged children. The eligibility criteria for the EYPP is therefore very tight, targeted at three and four year olds from economically disadvantaged households and those who are in care or have been in care.

Special Educational Needs (SEN) Inclusion Fund

To support early years providers in meeting the needs of individual children with SEN, every local authority has a SEN Inclusion Fund.

Invoices

Invoices for non-funded hours are sent out at the beginning of each term and fees are paid via the school Parent Pay system. We understand that, for some families, paying towards the end of a full term can result in quite a considerable invoice to pay. Therefore, invoices are sent out at the start of each term, and payment for non-funded hours will be split into two half terms, e.g. Spring 1 and Spring 2. We request that fees for a half term are paid within the 1st 2 weeks of the start of that half term. Equally, if you wish to pay ahead for the full term, then you can, although this is not an expectation.

If you have any difficulty paying for a particular invoice, then please arrange to speak in confidence to Ms Pooley or the school administrator.

If, by the end of a half term there is still an outstanding amount to pay, then unfortunately, any non-funded hours for the following half term will be put on hold, until payment is settled. This would not affect your child’s funded hours.

We would be thrilled to share the start of your child’s learning journey and currently have spaces available. If you would like to arrange a visit please contact us.
