As part of our topic of Coasts, we had two fantastic visits.
When the Coastguard visited, we found out all about how dogs that have fallen off the cliff path are rescued, how patients with back injuries are stretchered off to the helicopter, and some children even got to test out the emergency lights and siren in the coastguard’s truck! Did you know that they carry chocolate bars and bottled water in their vehicle as they can often be out searching for many hours at a time without a rest or meal break? The RNLI came along and ran an assembly for the whole school and then visited the various classrooms explaining their vital role in rescuing people off our coasts. You can find more out about the work they do here: http://www.rnli.com
